Regarding a <b data-path-to-node=\"19\" data-index-in-node=\"203\">Pidyon HaBen<\/b> in its proper time, he permits only the father and the Kohen to break the fast. However, <b data-path-to-node=\"19\" data-index-in-node=\"305\">Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef<\/b> zatzal (<i data-path-to-node=\"19\" data-index-in-node=\"338\">Yabia Omer<\/i> Vol. 1, Siman 27) elaborates extensively on this matter, and his conclusion is that even when these ceremonies are held out of their original time, one can be exempt from the obligation of the fast by participating in them.
