Volunteering in Hospitals
As part of its wide range of activities of helping and supporting patients, Ish TzadikHaya provides emotional support for hospitalized sick children.
The foundation’s activities are devoted to children who require hospitalization due to ongoing treatment. The programs initiated by Ish Tzadik Haya are geared to fulfil the need of these kids, who are disengaged from their natural environment, from their friends, and from normal social interaction.
How the activity takes place
Our volunteer staff consists of over 100 volunteers, throughout the country.
The activities are carried out in part by volunteering youth, who engage and entertain the children as part of their community service, and partly by volunteering adults,
All volunteers receive training and guidance in preparation for the activity with the hospitalized children, which is done in coordination with the hospitals.
Scheduling of Activities
Our programs are scheduled for the times the children are not in treatment or engaged in any other activity. We attempt to schedule all activities, so that they occupy the children and divert their focus, as best as possible, from their pain and discomfort.
The Ish Tzadik programs and volunteer engagements usually takes place on Fridays, holiday eves, Chol Hamoed, and even on Israel’s Independence Day, when hospitalized kids need us most. Our volunteers give up their time with their own families to engage in this sacred activity.
