The week of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, is a magnificent time for the People of Israel—but not for everyone.
Chanukah is usually defined by the glow of the Menorah, the scent of sufganiyot, gifts, and celebrations. While most of us are surrounded by joy, the reality is very different for hospitalized children and those living in the shadow of poverty.
That is why, throughout the holiday, the Aish Tzaddik Hayah organization and its dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to bring the light of Chanukah into the homes of struggling families across the country. This year, we have placed a special emphasis on reaching families in the periphery. Our volunteers travel to these remote areas to provide moments of solace and a vital reminder: We are here for you.
Our mission does not stop at the holidays. Throughout the entire year—on Friday afternoons, during Chol HaMoed, on Independence Day, and on the quiet days when few others are available—our volunteers visit pediatric wards. They are there to encourage, to cheer, and to stand by these children during their most difficult moments. By doing so, they also allow the parents of these brave children a brief moment to breathe and rest.
This coming Chanukah, our volunteers will once again travel from the North to the South, visiting children’s hospitals and underprivileged homes. They will bring the spirit of the holiday, a joyous atmosphere, and wonderful gifts to gladden the hearts of these children.
Help us light up Chanukah for hospitalized children across the country. Help us provide gifts for children in need, so they can celebrate just like every other child in Israel.
Please, open your hearts and help us put a smile on the faces of children who have known far too much pain and suffering.
Wishing you a Happy Chanukah!
