The organization has taken it upon itself to assist and operate among children and adults with special needs, specifically those dealing with a spectrum of disorders characterized by difficulties in social interaction and communication, and who often possess a very limited range of activities and interests. Our activities focus on the social aspect, with a particular emphasis on children and teenagers living in residential hostels. We work with children diagnosed with Autism, Social Communication Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome, and ADHD, as well as with adults who require special attention.
Activities in this field range from leisure time engagement to entertainment, singing, and dancing. We provide them with the kind of treats usually found at public events, such as karaoke, cotton candy machines, slushie machines, popcorn makers, and more.
It is incredibly moving to see the reactions of these children and the joy they derive from these activities—joy so great that the volunteers often find it difficult to leave.
