Assistance for Those in Need - Ish Tsadik
From Distress to Well-being

The “From Distress to Well-being” initiative is designed to lend a hand and ensure the rehabilitation of families who have fallen into crisis, returning them to the circle of productivity and assisting them in transforming from recipients to contributors.

Families who have encountered financial difficulties following the loss of a livelihood, insufficient income, or due to the illness of a child or family member (may we be spared), find that as the crisis persists, the challenges grow. Consequently, emotional, psychological, and marital issues often develop, making the return to the workforce even more difficult.

The rehabilitation process includes assistance with vocational training at recognized and certified institutions that provide the learner with a professional certificate, thereby increasing their income potential and providing dignified employment.

Food Baskets Distribution

When food baskets are distributed, every needy family receives a box containing a collection of products, not all of which they consume. Some of the items in the basket are of no use to them, or force them to use products that are not to their taste out of a lack of choice.

The distribution of baskets also requires maintaining a logistical network involving storage and transportation, which entails high costs that ultimately come at the expense of those in need.

We work to fully utilize the donations we receive and maximize the help we provide by giving the needy exactly what they require in a way that preserves their dignity.

We save on the costs of storage, transportation, and distribution; instead, we distribute shopping vouchers for the major food chains, through which the needy person buys exactly what they need.

The method of distributing the vouchers is also done away from the "limelight," in a discrete manner using volunteer couriers or, at times, via the mail.

Emotional and Mental Support

Assisting those in need does not end with financial aid. A person in financial distress is often unable to "pull themselves together" and requires emotional support and mental encouragement to escape the difficult place they are in. They need the strength to stand up, rise, and continue acting with renewed vigor rather than remaining where they are.

Throughout our activities, we have been exposed to hundreds of such cases. We will share one case as an example:

When we entered the home of a family that had experienced a financial collapse, the husband told us: "When we had money, we had plenty of friends; they came to visit, to spend time, to celebrate, and so on. When we fell, they disappeared, they 'evaporated,' they forgot us. They no longer want our company. We have been in this situation for seven years, and you are the only ones who have knocked on our door—you, who do not know us, yet came to help. What is the point of a life where no one wants our company and I cannot even buy a lollipop for my granddaughter? Death is better than such a life."
