Eating Kitniyot on Erev Pesach for Ashkenazim - Ish Tsadik
Question:
Are Ashkenazim permitted to eat Kitniyot on Erev Pesach (the eve of Passover) until the night begins?
Answer

The author of the Peri Megadim (Siman 444) and the Maharsham (Siman 453) permitted eating Kitniyot on Erev Pesach until the night. However, the ruling of the Shevet HaLevi (Volume 3, 31) is to forbid them starting from the same hour that the eating of Chametz is prohibited. Therefore, one may be lenient only for small children, using vessels that are separate from the Pesach dishes.
