In one horrifying moment during the Iranian missile attack, the lives of the Cohen family from Beit Shemesh were irrevocably changed. As the sirens wailed, the family sought refuge in their shelter; tragically, a direct hit to the building above claimed the lives of Yossi, the father, and Bruria, the grandmother (may their memories be a blessing).
Pnina, who sustained injuries in the strike along with her three-year-old son, David, is now left to raise their four children alone. Beyond the profound emotional loss, the family’s home and all their belongings were completely destroyed.
Faced with this overwhelming tragedy, we were contacted by Ruti—the mother of a friend of one of Pnina’s daughters—to help organize a crowdfunding campaign. Our goal was to provide Pnina and her children with the essential support needed to navigate this devastating reality and help secure their future.
In collaboration with JGive, we launched a national appeal. We are incredibly moved to share that 3,741 donors joined us, raising over 700,000 NIS to support Pnina and her family.
Your response to this mission serves as a powerful testament to the strength of Israeli mutual responsibility. On behalf of Pnina, we extend our deepest gratitude to every donor for your compassion and for walking this path with them. Thanks to your generosity, Pnina and her children will not face their long road to recovery alone.
In a deeply moving meeting with Pnina and her father to present the funds, Pnina shared her story—the challenges she and her children continue to face, and the immense void left by the loss of her beloved husband, Yossi.
May we always be privileged to contribute to those in need, acting with health, abundance, and joy.
